Tata Motors to launch 5 new cars in India in 2017-18
Tata Motors, our very own homegrown automaker, is working day and night in order to revamp its brand image in India. It plans to achieve the same by launching a series of new products in the Indian market, targeting segments which are at its peak in our country at the moment. These upcoming new Tata products are to score high in terms of their visual appeal as well as the amount of features on board. They are to help establish Tata Motor s brand images as the manufacturer of robust and contemporary cars that are no less when compared to their international competition. Here is the list of all the upcoming cars from Tata Motor s, expected to be launched in India during the year 2017-18.
One of the highly anticipated launches to be done by Tata Motor s is the one of the Hexa crossover. Based on the modified underpinnings of the Aria MPV, the Hexa will get a seating option of 7 and will primarily compete against the likes of Toyota Innova Crysta and Mahindra XUV500. Featuring Tata s IMPACT design language and sculpted by the automaker s teams in Pune, Italy and UK, the Hexa, must be said, is quite a looker. It will be powered by a set of tried and tested VARICOR320 and VARICOR400 diesel engines. The former is good for generating 148Bhp along with 320Nm of peak torque while the latter can pump out 154Bhp along with 400Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities will be handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the top of the line manual trim is available with a 6-speed automatic unit as well. The Hexa is to come equipped with 4 4 power train and also with what Tata calls Super Drive Modes . Bookings for the same have already commenced. Expected Price: INR 12 lakh to INR 18 lakh (ex-showroom)
The homegrown automaker will launch a sub-compact sedan, the Kite 5 as a replacement for the ageing Indigo eCS. Unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the compact sedan is based on the modified XO platform that also underpins the Tiago small car. To be positioned below the Zest, the Kite 5 will be cheaper than the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and others in the compact sedan segment. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol and a newly developed 1.05-litre 3-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine. Expected Price: INR 4 lakh to INR 6 lakh (ex-showroom)
Unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, the Nexon will be Tata s sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. It will rival against the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra TUV300 and the Ford EcoSport. The production-spec model looks largely identical to the concept showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Show. The SUV shares some of its design cues from the Land Rover Evoque. The vehicle will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options- 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.

Expected Price: INR 6 lakh to INR 8 lakh (ex-showroom)
Tata Motors is planning to launch an entry-level hatchback to rival Renault Kwid and the Maruti Alto 800. The small car codenamed Pelican, will be positioned between the Nano and the Tiago. It is likely to be based on Nano s platform and will be manufactured at company s new Sanand, Gujarat plant. The small car is expected to get a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol and an all-new 800cc 2-cylinder diesel engine. According to some recent reports, it is belived that the entire Nano project could face a set-back due to the unenthusiastic response that the same has recived in India.

Tata X451 Premium Hatchback
In order to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20, Tata is currently working on a premium hatchback of its own. The same is based on the automaker s advanced modular platform and will feature its IMPACT design philosophy. It is expected to be powered by 4-cylinder petrol and a 4-cylinder diesel engine.
